STEP 3: CONSIDER YOUR ENLISTMENT OPTIONS

Ready to dive into your Coast Guard journey? Before we get too deep, there are a few options we should chat about.

Now, if you’re 16, just a heads up, we can’t officially start working together until you hit 17. But don’t worry, I’m still excited to jump on a virtual call with you to walk you through how things work.

ACTIVE DUTY (Full Time): If you’re between 17 and 41, you’re in the sweet spot for our Active Duty (Full Time) Enlistment Options. Just remember, you need to start Basic Training before you hit the big 42. We’ve got Two, Four and Six -Year enlistment plans – so you can pick what suits you best.

RESERVIST (Part Time):If you’re aged 17 to 40, this could be your chance. With a six-year commitment, you’ll balance Coast Guard service and civilian responsibilities.  We’ll work together to find the ideal unit that matches your location and interests, opening doors to an exciting Coast Guard Reserve adventure. Enlistment in the Reserve means being a vital part of the Coast Guard while maintaining flexibility in your civilian life.

If you have prior military experience, we have pathways for you as well.

STEP 4: TAKE THE ARMED SERVICES VOCATIONAL APTITUDE BATTERY (ASVAB) AT MEPS
Alright, let’s talk tests. Ever heard of the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB)? It’s like a roadmap for finding the best fit for your skills. You can take it the old-school way with pen and paper, or the modern way on a computer. In about three hours, we’ll cover things like math, English, writing, and science. These scores help us match you with the right career path. Oh, and if you’ve already taken it, no worries – just let me know, and we’ll see if your scores still count.

STEP 5: The MEPS HEALTH ADVENTURE

Alright, let’s break down the MEPS health check – think of it as getting your health checked before you set sail on your Coast Guard journey. And guess what? This health adventure is like a lively fair, making sure you’re ready for whichever military path you decide to take.

Here’s what’s cooking:

  3. Blood and the Secret Sauce: Yep, you guessed it. We’ll do a teeny blood draw and maybe unlock some “special sauce” secrets. Don’t worry, it’s just to make sure your insides are working like a well-oiled machine.

  4. Stay Strong with Shots: We’ll chat about vaccinations – not the basketball kind, but the kind that keeps you healthy. Making sure you’re all caught up and ready for your military journey.
